Guest Post: The Best Tips on How to Achieve Glowy Skin Through Makeup
Introducing Toni Malt from the Toni Malt Makeup Academy. Toni is a leading international editorial makeup artist who has worked for the top fashion magazines around the world. Today, Toni very generously shares with us at Urban Rituelle her top beauty tips on how to achieve glowy skin through makeup! Yay!
Makeup trends are
changing and at a fast pace. One of the reasons for this is how many of the
trends are not practical or pretty. Do you remember the spider lashes and the
wiggly eyebrows? Both trends were interesting, but what right-thinking makeup
wearer would follow them for their everyday look?
However, there are a lot
of
long-lasting makeup trends as well, and one of them is glowy skin
makeup, which achieves the look of radiant and glowing skin.
This is a makeup approach that emphasizes
on the look of the skin instead of using different colors to alter one's facial
features
.
Creating the Look
To achieve glowy skin
through makeup, it's different strokes for different folks. Some women rely
only on radiant primer and a small amount of cream of liquid blush. This
achieves the most natural shine and flush as if you had just finished working
out or taking a bath.
Others go the extra
distance for a more polished look. This involves some attention to the eyes.
Neutral, shimmery eyeshadow is swept across the lids for sparkle and light. And
to make the eyes more attractive, the same shimmery eyeshadow is added lightly
under the lash line and the inner corners of the eyes.
The Pro's Tips for Glowy Skin Throughout the
Day
If you wish to create the
look for yourself without going through a trial and error process, follow these
tips from an expert makeup artist.
Always Start with Skin Care
The look of healthy skin
always needs to start with the effort for healthy skin, which is skin care.
Wash your face thoroughly and follow it up with hydrating toner, serum, and
moisturizing.
Thoroughly hydrated skin
is the best base for a glowy makeup.
For moisturizer, we recommend our Flourish Organics Lotion. We apply this liberally to our hands & body for soft, hydrated skin on the regular, but the organic formula is also gentle enough for it to double up as a facial moisturizer too!
Smooth Out Pores and Lines with Primer
The even application of
your base makeup will
ensure a flawless
finish that will last throughout the day
. For base makeup, start off with a
smoothing primer to reduce the appearance of pores and fine lines. This primer
will also keep sebum at bay, which can take quickly transform a glowy look into
a greasy one.
Create a Layer of Protection
After the primer, apply a
moisture packed sun cream. This will create a pearly finish to your mattified
face (due to the primer). Let it dry before applying anything else.
Use a Pink Tone Foundation for the Cheeks
The pink tone creates
that glow from within look. Also, this pink tone foundation reacts with the
heat from your skin, and it can help you identify the spots where you naturally
blush that you would want to enhance or neutralize with makeup later in the
process.
Conceal in a Targeted Manner
Spot-conceal using a
small brush or your fingers - use a light dabbing motion to feather the product
out and blend it more seamlessly onto your skin.
Apply a Glowy All-Over-the-Face Foundation
With a damp makeup sponge
dab a radiant foundation all over your face. Do this with a light hand and take
your time in blending to sheer out the product, while still providing your face
with adequate coverage.
Set with Powder
The eye area can get
quite oily over time and to control this, you need to set it with a thin layer
of powder. Use a sponge applicator to target the creases where eyeshadow and
powder typically accumulate.
Do the same with your
T-zone to further keep the natural production of oil under control. Use a puff
for this for a light application.
Add Highlighter
Place highlighter on the
high points of your face, such as the top of your cheekbones, brow bone,
Cupid's bow, and the center of your lower lip line. Apply a bit of highlight to
the inner corners of your eyes as well to give them a lovely sparkle.
Do not apply any on the T-zone even if it's a
trend to bop the nose with highlight.
The T-zone produces its natural oils and adding highlight to it will only make
the "zone" look greasy.
Add the Finishing Touches
Dab cream blush on your
cheeks if you want a visible flush. Perk up your lashes by curling them and use
a lash separating mascara for a natural look. Finally, add color to your lips
using a tinted lip balm or gloss.
Year-Round Glow
A
top makeup artist says, glowy skin looks beautiful through the
changing seasons, but the trend becomes more popular as the weather becomes
cooler and the world takes on a more muted tone. Maintaining your glow can make
you feel better, especially when your surroundings are dark and dreary.
